Love Letters between Henry and Anne
In class we read a series letters, not just any letters but love letters written by King Henry VIII to his mistress Anne Boleyn. In his letters he would refer to her as "my mistress" or "madame." He would constantly close his letters with "loyal servant and friend." I think ny this he meant that he was her servant, meaning he would do anything for her. He would do anything to serve her wishes. I also liked the line he used when he said, "written by the hand of him who is and always will be yours," By this line I believe he meant that he was hers, and she was his, that he would not put anyone before her, or look at any other woman besides her. I felt that this line contradicted his actions because rumor had it that he had a relationship with Anne's sister and a baby was the product of this relationship. So if, she was the only person he had eyes for, why did he get Anne's sister pregnant? I guess he believed that since he was the king no one could tell him what to do.
